Lots of new things happening!  

Evelyn's, a soul food restaurant has opened on South Illinois Avenue.   Their menu includes greens, fried catfish, red beans and rice and macaroni and cheese.  That's just to mention a few things!

The new Mary Lou's has opened right next door to the old one!  Of course, some of us remember when Mary Lou opened her first restaurant in a little dining train car right next to the tracks!  Daughter Marilyn hasn't changed much of the menu!   The cheese burger is still fantastic ... the coconut cream pie is all homemade ... and the "Pretty Legs" eggs and bacon special is still a favorite!

Cool Spoons, a new frozen yogurt shop will open on March 1st!   It will be located right in front of Kohl's and promises to be something really special!  The owners are planning on incorporating local products into their menu for toppings.  Won't it be nice to have real Southern Illinois strawberries on top of creamy, yummy frozen yogurt?
