The Carbondale Convention & Tourism Bureau was first organized in 1985, and is a not-for-profit organization responsible for marketing Carbondale and Jackson County, Illinois. 

The Bureau, known as CCTB, is governed by a board of directors and has contracts with the City of Carbondale, the Jackson County Board and the Illinois Office of Tourism.  Through special grant resources, CCTB often provides services that benefit the expanded Southern Illinois region and frequently partners with the Southern Illinois University College of Agriculture Hospitality and Tourism Administration Program to accomplish those projects.

CCTB's Executive Director holds several industry certifications including that of a Destination Management Executive, a Tourism Industry Specialist and a Grants Specialist.

CCTB employs three staff and Southern Illinois University student interns.  The Bureau is located just across from SIU on South Illinois Avenue in Carbondale.
